Eugene DeMarta, Jr. husband to Chrisse DeMarta and a resident of Holmes, NY passed away Monday, May 16, 2022 at Mt. Sinai Hospital, NYC at the age of 47.
Born in Flushing, NY on July 26, 1974, he was the youngest of three children born to the late Eugene (deceased) and Rosemary DeMarta.
Eugene was a first responder while employed for AT&T Wireless on 9/11. Initially, Eugene was part of a special search and rescue team deployed to support ongoing search and rescue operations. He worked for six months straight at ground zero assisting in restoring wireless communications in the area.
Eugene was a Jeep enthusiast and began a second career as an internet retailer from his backyard shed in 2004. In 2011, he was able to leave AT&T behind to pursue his dream as a successful self-employed business owner in 2011. Unfortunately due to illness, Eugene had to give up his dream in 2019 to take care of himself. He also was a HAM radio operator.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, Eugene is survived by his mother Rosemary, daughter, Samantha, and sons Nicholas & Matthew. He is also survived by his sister Deborah DeMarta as well as two nieces, two nephews, and a great-nephew.
In addition to his father, he is predeceased by his brother Anthony and a man he considered a second father, Daniel Galtieri.
Family and friends may pay their respects at the Horn & Thomes, Inc Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling, NY Sunday 5-7 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 AM at St. Denis Church, Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction, NY. Burial will be in St. Denis Cemetery.
