Obituary, Alberta (Engelberg) Wylock

Alberta (Engelberg) Wylock, of Wingdale, NY, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2022, in New Milford, CT.

Alberta was born in 1935 in Dobbs Ferry, NY, the daughter of Albert and Nellie Engelberg.  She grew up in Tarrytown, NY and graduated from Washington Irving High School where she met her husband, David Wylock.  The high school sweethearts were married in 1955 and resided in Pocantico Hills, NY where they spent many years raising their family. In 1998, they moved to Wingdale to be closer to family and to enjoy their retirement years.

Prior to her retirement, Alberta worked for many years as an Office Manager for Greenrock Corporation.  Upon retiring, she enjoyed many interests and hobbies including travel, home decorating, cooking, knitting and crocheting, doing crossword and word puzzles.  She especially enjoyed taking care of and spending time with her grandchildren who were the light of her life. She doted on them and they looked forward to receiving new handknit items from Grandma every year at Christmas to add to their collection. Local charities also became beneficiaries of her knitting and crocheting projects as she enjoyed lending her talents to helping others.

Alberta was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was an avid genealogist, tracing her family history back to the 1500’s. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, David, her two daughters, Sharon (Chris) Moniere of Virginia Beach, VA, and Lorraine (Lee) Scuccimarra of Wingdale, NY; her son, John (Lisa Errico) Wylock of Stewart Manor, NY., and her six grandsons: Michael Barnum, Drew Barnum, Christopher Scuccimarra, Brian Wylock, Sam Wylock and Conor Wylock and her brother, Robert Engelberg. She is predeceased by her parents, and her sister, Nellie Drahos.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
