Gun arrest in Poughkeepsie

Poughkeepsie, New York – On May 5, 2022, the New York State Police in conjunction with the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department arrested Jesse M. Davis, age 40, of Binghamton, NY, and Matthew A. Cascioli, age 27, of Kingston, NY, for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd degree, a class C felony, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th degree, a class D felony, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, a class E felony, and Unlawful Possession of a Large Ammunition Feeding Device, a class B misdemeanor.

Jesse Davis was additionally arrested for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd degree with a prior conviction, a class D felony.

At approximately 11:15 p.m., Troopers and Officers from City of Poughkeepsie Police Department conducted a traffic stop of a 2020 Dodge Ram 2500 for violations of the vehicle traffic law on South Grand Avenue in the city of Poughkeepsie.  Investigation determined Davis and Cascioli, prospective members of a known gang engaging in criminal activity, illegally possessed a Smith & Wesson Model 36, .38 Special, a Glock Model 27, .40 caliber, two pairs of brass knuckles, one high-capacity firearm magazine, and approximately 0.8 grams of cocaine.

Davis and Cascioli were both arraigned before the Honorable Judge Volkman of the city of Poughkeepsie Court.  Davis was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail and Cascioli was remanded in lieu of $40,000 cash bail, $80,000 partially secure bond or $100,000 bond.  Both are scheduled to reappear before the court on May 11, 2022, at 11:00 a.m.
