Obituary, Thomas William Hoffa

Thomas William Hoffa passed away peacefully in his home in Millbrook, NY on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at the age of 78. He was born to the late Benedict Hoffa and Victoria Swiantek Hoffa, in White Plains, NY in 1943. He attended the public schools of Westchester County where he was an avid baseball player in his youth.
Thomas was a Marine Corps combat veteran of the Vietnam War and was wounded during the battle, Operation Harvest Moon. He enlisted in 1963. He served as a 0351 with the 5th Marine Regiment as well as L 3/3.
After the Marines, Thomas worked as a printing press operator in Mamaroneck, NY. He also matriculated at Iona College in New Rochelle, NY where he studied accounting. Thomas married Andrea Gray on February 5, 1977. They moved, with their two young children, Kimberly and Keith, from New Rochelle, NY to Millbrook, NY in 1983.
Thomas was a valued employee at Collins Brothers Moving, Corp., based in Larchmont, NY.   “Big Tom”, as he was affectionately referred to by his coworkers at Collins, started out as a long-haul owner-operated and eventually become a warehouse manager, a position he held until his retirement.
In his spare time, Thomas enjoyed outdoor activities including fishing, camping, and canoeing. One of his favorite places to explore and unwind was the Adirondack Mountains.   He also enjoyed making intricate models of trains, boats, houses, and airplanes. He was a skilled and knowledgeable woodworker and antique furniture refinisher. He loved spending time with his family and especially with his three grandchildren.
Thomas, in his dress blues, is looking over the following: Andrea Hoffa; his daughter, Kimberly Hoffa, and her son, his grandson, Joseph Hunter; his son, Keith Hoffa, and Keith’s wife, Lisa, and, their twins, his grandchildren, Nathan and Brielle; his sister, Janet Tuerff; his brother Lawrence Hoffa; his sister Kathryn Zeiger; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sisters Barbara Torlish and Marsha Brown.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 8 from 5-7 pm at 3270 Franklin Ave., Millbrook. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 9 at 11 am from the funeral home. Interment will follow in Clove Valley Cemetery with military honors.
