Obituary

Wendy Fowkes VanDerlyn, 73, formerly of Pawling NY, peacefully passed away at The Paramount at Somers on Friday, January 21, 2022, after a short battle with breast cancer.

Wendy was born in Mt. Kisco, NY on November 6, 1948. She was the daughter of George F. & Jeanette (McIntyre) Fowkes.

Wendy was a graduate of Brewster High School. While there she was an active member of the cheerleading squad, played field hockey, and was a member of the National Honor Society.

Wendy was an Executive Assistant at Pawling Corporation in Pawling NY for 15+ years. Wendy was very active in Pawling Youth Soccer and served as a former coach and organization President. In her retirement, Wendy liked to spend her time outdoors in the company of friends.

She is survived by her son, James F. VanDerlyn and his wife, Karen of Watertown CT; their children, Kristen, Allison, and Gregory VanDerlyn; her daughter, Courtney S. Elwell and her son, Mason Elwell of Yorktown Heights, NY; as well as her sister, Pamela (Fowkes) DeMayo, and her husband, Louis of East Dennis, MA; their children, Melissa DeMayo, Megan Santos, Brett DeMayo, and their respective families.

A private cremation and burial will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date. Memorial contrubutions in Wendy’s honor can be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (https://www.nationalbreastcancer.org)
