Frigid Temperatures Coming This Weekend

Residents Reminded of “Code Blue” and Warming Centers

With frigid temperatures and snow in the forecast this weekend, stay safe and be prepared to prevent risk of frostbite or hypothermia. Find winter preparedness tips on our website at dutchessny.gov. ,

Local municipalities that have informed the Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response they will be opening warming centers this weekend include:

    • City of Beacon – Howland Public Library, 313 Main Street
      10am-4pm, Saturday, January 15
    • Town of Red Hook – Red Hook Community Center, 59 Fisk Street
      10am – 4pm, Saturday, January 15
      Noon – 4pm, Sunday, January 16

Dutchess County’s “Code Blue” protocol is also in effect. The Department of Community & Family Services works with local agencies, including Hudson River Housing and Mental Health America, to provide emergency shelter for homeless individuals, including shelter at 150 North Hamilton Street in Poughkeepsie. Local law enforcement agencies can connect individuals to shelter opportunities or you can call or text Dutchess HELPLINE at (845) 485-9700 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
