Obituary,Thomas Oakley

Thomas Oakley passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at his home at “The Cedars” in Queensbury, New York.

Tom and his twin Tim, were born in New Milford, Connecticut on October 16, 1957 to Elwood and Shirley (Felpel) Oakley who predeceased him.

Tom spent his early life living and going to school in Pawling, New York, where he started working his first job for Grand Union Co. He never missed a day and traveled to and from his job while riding his bike. Through the years he rose to manager. He made many close friends while at the Grand Union and really enjoyed taking the golfing trips with the other managers to South Carolina. Eventually he purchased a condo and moved to South Carolina, where he worked at a golf course.

Through the years he made many friends everywhere he went. Employees and customers alike loved him and he them. He enjoyed playing poker, golf, fishing and traveling with his sister Gail and brother-in-law Michael.

Tom recently sold his condo in South Carolina and moved back north to be closer to family. He is survived by two brothers, his twin Timothy Oakley of New Milford CT, Gary Oakley of Ithaca, New York, a brother Peter Oakley predeceased him. His two sisters Cheryl (Steve) Harrington, and Gail (Michael) Lewis. Four nieces, Doreen Miller, Teri (Scott) Kilmer, Tracey Britton, and Christine (Andrew) Lennox. Two great nephews, Caleb Russell, and Bryce See.

He was very happy to be back in the family fold and loved and was loved by everyone, he will be very missed by both family and friends. RIP my sweet angel brother we know you will be hugged by those waiting to greet you and be guardian angel to those who loved you here on earth.

A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.
