Obituary, Richard A. Ashby, Jr.

Richard A. Ashby, Jr., 28, of Ulster Park, NY, formerly of Dover Plains, NY, died unexpectedly on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at home. Born on September 30, 1993, in Sharon, CT, he was the son of Richard A. Ashby, Sr. of Hudson, NY and Genevieve Adams Ashby of Torrington, CT. He was a self-employed mechanic.

Richard was a 2012 graduate of Dover High School in Dover Plains, NY and Dutchess County BOCES Automotive Program in Salt Point, NY. In addition to his ability to fix anything and draw, he loved music.

Besides his parents, he is survived by two daughters, Shelby and Abbigal Ashby of Kingston, NY; a sister, Allison Ashby of Hudson, NY; his companion, Kerri Swartz of Poughkeepsie, NY; his maternal grandmother, Tonya Hastings of Dover Plains, NY and his maternal grandfather, Gregg Adams of Lynchburg, VA.

Richard was predeceased by his daughter, Mercedes Mae; his paternal grandparents, Richard O’Dell and Alice Ashby and paternal step-grandfather, Douglas Hasting.
