Obituary, Steve Amato

Steve Amato, 39, a lifelong area resident passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2021, at Long Island Jewish Hospital in Valley Stream, NY. Steve was an elevator technician in local Union 1 working for the Fujitec elevator company in New York, NY.

Born on June 24, 1982 in the Bronx, NY, he was the son of Enrico and Millie (Contreras) Amato of Dover Plains. Steve was a graduate of Dover High school class of 2000.

In addition to his loving parents, Steve is survived by his daughter, Emily Amato of Queens, NY. He is also survived by his two Sisters Liza Marie Passante of Milton, NY, and Annette Amato of Hartsdale, NY and two brothers Ralph Amato of Cortlandt Manor, NY and Peter Amato of Peekskill, NY. And girlfriend Lynn DiMarco of Farmingdale, NY. Steve also had many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss him.

Stevie’s animated personality would put a smile on anyone’s face. He was known for his humor, quick wit, and banter. He adored his daughter; she was his world, he will live on in her, and we will always see him in her sweet face. To know him is to love him and we do. Dearly.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon on Friday, December 10, 2021, at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 62 Mill Street, Dover Plains.
