Carmel Police report the arrest of a 20 year old Pawling, NY resident

Carmel Police report the arrest of a 20 year old Pawling, NY resident who is charged with Reckless Driving and Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree, both misdemeanors, in addition to a number of other New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law (VTL) violations related to the incident.
On November 9, 2021 at approximately 10:50 AM, A Carmel Police Officer while on patrol on Route 6 observed a gray Nissan sedan traveling eastbound. The vehicle was observed with multiple VTL violations, and the officer conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Lake Casse Road. The sedan pulled over to the side of the road, and when the officer began to approach the driver, fled from the officer into the Lake Casse neighborhood.
The vehicle was quickly discovered in a wooded area off of Longdale Road after having struck a tree. Two passengers were detained and investigation determined the driver had fled from the crash on foot. Assistance from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, and Mahopac Fire Department responded to the scene of the crash and officers began to search for the fleeing driver. Fulmar Road School was notified due to its proximity to the incident and locked down as a precaution. The fleeing driver was located shortly thereafter and taken into custody. The vehicle passengers were identified and released after investigation.
Following processing on the above charges the driver/defendant was arraigned in Carmel Town Justice Court by the Honorable Judge Jacobellis and released on his own recognizance to appear in court at a later date.
