Obituary, Beatrice T. Lonsdale

TATE COLLEGE Pa./CLIFTON SPRINGS – Beatrice T. Lonsdale, 96, passed away Thursday (October 26, 2021).

At the request of Bea’s family, services will be private with burial in Millbrook, N.Y., Dutchess County.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in your area.

Mrs. Lonsdale was born April 30, 1925, in Millbrook, N.Y., a daughter to Anders Thomassen and Rose Franko Thomassen. She graduated from Amenia, N.Y., High School in 1942, and then completed registered nurse training in 1946 at Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., serving as class president. She then worked at Vassar Brothers Hospital in several functions as a registered professional nurse. Subsequently she worked in the Poughkeepsie, N.Y., school district and in 1960 attained a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. She also attended Penn State University. She later worked in the Pawling, N.Y. school district and was School Nurse Teacher in the Newark, N.Y. school district for many years. She and her husband Craig lived in Lyons, and later Clifton Springs. Mrs. Lonsdale volunteered tirelessly for the American Cancer Society‘s Wayne County unit, held many smoking cessation programs and fund raisers, and received awards for her efforts. She enjoyed extensive travel, skiing, gardening, and loved music.

She is survived by a son, Cameron (Sherry) of State College, Pa.; two grandchildren, Alexandra and Johnathan; brother, Edmund Thomassen of Austin, Texas; and other family members.

She is redeceased by her husband, Craig Noel Lonsdale; and her son, Stuart Lance Lonsdale.
