State Police seize illegal handgun during routine stop

Pleasant Valley, New York – On October 27, 2021, the New York State Police from the Poughkeepsie barracks arrested Kwesi K. Paul, age 42, of Pleasant Valley, for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd degree, a class C felony, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd degree, an unclassified misdemeanor.

At approximately 12:50 a.m., Troopers conducted a traffic stop of a 2013 Chrysler 200 for violations of the vehicle and traffic law on Route 44 in the town of Pleasant Valley.  Investigation discovered the operator identified as Kwesi Paul had revoked driving privileges.  Further investigation revealed Paul was in illegal possession of a 9mm Ruger P94 handgun.

Paul was arraigned before the town of Pleasant Valley Court and remanded by the Honorable Judge Sears to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $1,500 cash bail, $5,000 secured bond, or $10,000 partially secured bond.  He is next scheduled to appear before the court on October 29, 2021, at 4:00 p.m.
