Obituary
James Alonzo Muncey, 88, a longtime resident of Wingdale, New York passed away on Friday, October 15, 2021, at Sharon Hospital in Sharon, CT. Mr. Muncey was a maintenance supervisor with the New York State Department of Corrections of 23 years retiring in 1993.
Born on June 5, 1933 in Danforth, ME he was the son of the late Sylvester and Florence (Lee) Muncey. Mr. Muncey proudly served in the US Navy from 1953 to 1957. On October 10, 1959 in Waymart, PA he married Marie Ryan who survives at home.
In addition to his loving wife, Mr. Muncey is survived by his three sons, Michael Muncey and his partner, Mike Clements, of Chattanooga, TN, James S. Muncey and his fiancée Lauren ODell, of Dover Plains and Jeff Muncey and his wife, Julie, of Wingdale, NY. He is also survived by a sister, Gloria Irish of Dover Plains and four grandchildren: Martin (Jayme) Muncey. Mitchell Muncey, Haley (Theo) Muncey and Erin Muncey. Besides his parents, Mr. Muncey was predeceased by six sisters and a brother.
Calling hours will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, October 18, 2021 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at the First Baptist Church, 6483 Route 55, Wingdale, NY with Pastor Anthony Bacino officiating.
