Richard Harold Allen, 84, a resident of Poughquag for 60 years, passed away at his home Saturday, October 9, 2021.
Born in Cold Spring, NY on November 1, 1936, he was one of five children born to Harold and Louise (DeRose) Allen and the husband of the late Delorus (Hilton) Allen who passed away November 6, 2012.
Richard owned and operated Allen Sand & Gravel in Amenia.
Richard loved gardening, his faithful canine companion, Oreo, and his loving family.
He is survived by his three children, Craig Allen of Faxon, OK, Leah Bogdan and husband Richard of Pawling, NY, and Kevin Allen of Poughquag and his long-time companion Karen Tompkins of Carmel, NY; his three grandchildren, Lauren Bogdan of Patterson, NY, Michael Allen of Poughquag, and Kyle Allen of Texas; his sister-in-las Pat Allen of Poughquag; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, Delorus, he is predeceased by his two brothers and two sisters.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Monday, October 18, 2021 from 6-8 PM at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling, NY. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home Tuesday morning at 10 AM. Burial will follow in Pawing Cemetery.
