Obituary

Victor D. Ambrose, 86, a longtime resident of Dover Plains, NY, passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021, at Sharon Health Care Center in Sharon, CT. Mr. Ambrose was a Police Officer in the City of Mt. Vernon for 20 years. He later worked as a Butcher at Grand Union.

Born on August 21, 1935 in the Bronx, he was the son of the late Joseph and Lena (Carella) Ambrose. Mr. Ambrose proudly served in the US Army from 1954 to 1956. On November 23, 1957 in the Bronx he married Phyllis Chiara who survives at home.

In addition to his loving wife, Mr. Ambrose is survived by a son, Joseph Ambrose and his wife, Theresa, of Copake, NY and two daughters, Joanne DiNardo and her husband, Frank, of Brewster, NY and Diane Rudowich and her fiancée, Steven Ferguson, of Poughquag, NY. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Nicholas Rudowich and his wife, Rachel, Jillian Rudowich and Frank and Jason DiNardo. Besides his parents, Mr. Ambrose was predeceased by a sister, Betty Gillis.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 14, 2021at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 62 Mill St., Dover Plains, NY. Burial will military honors will follow at St. Charles Cemetery in Dover Plains. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
