PRESS RELEASE

Kent, New York – On April 24, 2015 at approximately 12:45 a.m., New York State Police from the East Fishkill barracks responded to a two-car personal injury auto accident that occurred on Interstate 84, just east of Ludingtonville Road.

Investigation revealed that a 2012 Jeep, operated by Myra Babar, age 27, of East Fishkill, New York, was traveling eastbound on the Interstate. Babar failed to negotiate a left curve in the roadway and exited the southern shoulder. The Jeep subsequently struck a rock embankment before coming to rest in the driving lane of Interstate 84.

A 2007 tractor-trailer, operated by Eric D. Brooks, 31 years old, of Perry, Georgia, was also traveling eastbound on Interstate 84. The tractor-trailer was unable to avoid striking the Jeep and both vehicles exited the roadway.

Babar was transported by Air Life Net to Westchester Medical Center where she is listed in critical condition.

The crash closed Interstate 84 eastbound for approximately 6 hours and was reconstructed by the State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit. The cause of the crash remains under investigation and additional information will be released on the New York State Police Newsroom as it becomes available.
