Obituary, Angelo T. “Red” Pezzato

Angelo T. “Red” Pezzato, 85, a lifelong resident of Dover Plains, NY, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 in Dover Plains. Mr. Pezzato was a food service coordinator and inventory coordinator at the Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center in Wingdale, NY, for 26 years retiring in 1990.

Born on October 27, 1935 in Sharon, CT, he was the son of the late Angelo and Maddelena (Sartori) Pezzato. Mr. Pezzato proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. On December 2, 1960 in Dover Plains, he married Enes Pezzato who survives at home. He was a devoted husband and exceptional caregiver.

Mr. Pezzato was a member of the American Legion Post #1949 in Wingdale, NY. He was a former member of the J.H. Ketcham Hose Company. Mr. Pezzato was also a member of the Dover Lions Club, a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Church in Dover Plains and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Red enjoyed the outdoors, golfing, hunting, fishing, gardening, listening to Italian music, playing the harmonica, morning walks and relaxing on his front porch. His family was his true joy, especially his grandsons who he adored and held a special place in his heart. A master chef/baker, he was happiest preparing meals and baking especially biscotti and friendship cakes.

In addition to his loving wife, Mr. Pezzato is survived by two daughters, Corinnne Pezzato of New York, NY and Resa Paraszti and her husband, John, of Dover Plains and a son, Louis Heredia and his wife, Olga, of Astoria, NY. He is also survived by two sisters, Caroline Maniaci and her husband, Tony, of Las Vegas, NV and Mary Ann Zani and her husband, Delio, of Poughkeepsie, NY; two grandsons, Christopher and Drew Paraszti of Dover Plains; a sister-in-law, Bina Masiero and several nieces, nephews and friends.

He is predeceased by his sisters, Inez (Bruno) Spinella, Pat (Louie) Mostachetti and Ida (Joseph) Sgaggero; sisters-in-law: Agnes Masiero, Rose (Frank) Sartori, Claudia (Aldo) Sina, Jean (Arthur) Coe, Cecelia (Joseph) D’Angelo and brothers-in-law: Raymond Masiero, Armando (Lou) Masiero, Aristide (Jean) Masiero and Everesto (Bina) Masiero.

Our family is thankful to the Northern Dutchess Paramedics, State Police, and the J.H. Ketcham Hose Co., all in Dover, for their valiant efforts and assistance on behalf of our father.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 20, 2021 at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 62 Mill St., Dover Plains.
