Shoplifter caught with heroin, needles

DANBURY – A South Salem, N.Y. woman is facing drug and shoplifting charges after she was caught on camera stealing jewelry from a department store at the Danbury Fair mall, police said.

The incident Wednesday afternoon happened at Lord & Taylor, 7 Backus Ave. Security personnel told police they watched Michele Lynn Ciacci, 30, remove 15 jewelry items, totaling $880, from the shelves and leave the store.

Ciacci, of South Salem, N.Y., was detained by security until police arrived. When officers searched her, they found packets of heroin and needles in her purse, police said.

She was charged with fifth-degree larceny, possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of possession of narcotics.

She posted $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on May 4.
