Fatal crash in Putnam Valley

Putnam Valley, New York – On September 7, 2021, the New York State Police from the Stormville barracks began investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash on the Taconic State Parkway in the town of Putnam Valley.

At approximately 9:34 a.m., Troopers were dispatched to the area of mile marker 30.7 southbound on the Taconic State Parkway just south of Exit 31A for a report of a car off the roadway.  Investigation found the 1995 Toyota Tacoma, operated by Douglas W. Day, age 55, of New York, NY, traveling southbound, left the roadway for unknown reasons and struck a tree.

Unfortunately, Douglas Day succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Putnam County Coroner’s Office.

This investigation remains ongoing.
