UPDATE:

The driver of the vehicle is identified as Allan P. Forbes, 31, from Bronx, NY. He was listed in stable condition at Westchester Medical Center. Forbes is charged with:

• Unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle 3^rd degree, a class A misdemeanor
• Criminal impersonation 2^nd degree, a class A misdemeanor
• Reckless driving, an unclassified misdemeanor

Forbes was issued appearance tickets and is set to appear in East Fishkill town court on September 28, 2021.

On August 19, 2021, at approximately 1:30 p.m., a trooper stopped a vehicle on the Taconic State Parkway in East Fishkill that was suspected of speeding. As the trooper was questioning the driver, the driver took off, exiting the Taconic and heading eastbound on State Route 52. Troopers pursued the vehicle, which drove off the road and struck a tree at SR-52 and Overhill Road. The driver attempted to run from the scene, but was taken into custody by troopers. The driver then lost consciousness.

The driver was transported by helicopter to Westchester Medical Center for treatment.
