Obituary, Pauline Elfreda Place Wood

Pauline Elfreda Place Wood, 81, passed away Thursday, August 5, 2021 at Lutheran Home of Southbury, CT.

She was born in Poughkeepsie on January 8, 1940 to the late Willis Reuben Place and Mary Lucy Coon Place. She attended and graduated from a one room schoolhouse in Poughquag, Arlington High School and SUNY New Paltz with a degree in Math and Education. On June 4, 1960, she married Robert John Wood, who predeceased her on December 25, 2001. After growing up in Poughquag, she was a resident of Beacon, Pleasant Valley and Sherman. She survived Stage IV sinus cancer prior to her ten years of residence in nursing homes in Kent, Litchfield and Southbury where she began to create art to complement the poetry she had created since early childhood.
A lifelong avid Yankees fan, Pauline was collecting stats game by game to stay intimately involved with the players in her final years and did her best not to miss a game!
 Pauline is survived by two loving children and six grandchildren, a sister, brother, nieces, nephews and cousins.
 A private graveside service will be held on Friday,August 13th, 2021.
