Bridge to be Replaced on Fiddler’s Bridge Road in Clinton

Poughkeepsie…The Dutchess County Department of Public Works (DPW) has announced preliminary work on Bridge C-11 on Fiddler’s Bridge Road in the Town of Clinton is expected to begin on or about July 26th. The bridge, located over the Little Wappinger Creek between Long Pond Road and Centre Road (CR-18), will be replaced due to structural deterioration to ensure the safety and stability of the bridge and roadway for motorists.

Project work will involve replacing the existing structure and making improvements to the shoulders along the bridge approaches to improve the safety of the roadway. Fiddlers Bridge Road will be closed starting on or about July 26th with a posted detour directing traffic along Long Pond Road, Lake Drive, Slate Quarry Road (CR-19), and Centre Road (CR-18). View a map of the closure and detour. Work is expected to be complete, with the new bridge open to traffic by early winter 2021.

Fiddler’s Bridge Road averages approximately 452 vehicles per day.

Motorists are advised to plan for additional time and to exercise extra caution near the construction site, obey the posted speed limits, traffic advisory signs, and the directions from flaggers in the work zone to ensure the safety of workers and other motorists.
