police arrested town of Highland man for Strangulation 2nd degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree

PRESS RELEASE

On July 18, 2021 at approximately 11:45 a.m., troopers responded a residence in the town of Lumberland for a report of a physical domestic. Preliminary investigation revealed that Joshua K. Louis, age 34 from the town of Highland repeatedly struck and strangled the individual until they were unconscious. The victim was transported to Garnet Medical Center for evaluation. While interviewing Louis, troopers learned that he left the residence with two handguns and hid them in a bag in the woods, the handguns were recovered by state police.

Joshua K. Louis was charged with Strangulation 2nd degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree, both felonies.
He was remanded to Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $40,000 cash/$80,000 bond and was served a full stay away on behalf of the victim.
