UPDATE: State Police investigate member involved shooting in town of New Lebanon

Update: On June 16, 2021 Sarah Craddock was arrested for Menacing a Police Officer and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd degree, both class D felonies.  She was virtually arraigned before the town of Greenport Court and remanded to the Columbia County Jail without bail pending release from Albany Medical Center.
UPDATE:The subject injured is identified as 40-year-old Sarah Craddock.

The members who responded to the call for a suicidal individual are identified as Trooper Erica Rodriguez and Trooper Nathaniel Chernewsky.

A preliminary investigation revealed during the troopers’ interaction with Craddock she pointed a long gun at the state police members.

Trooper Chernewsky fired from a division issued shotgun and Craddock was shot in the abdomen.

Trooper Rodriguez has been with the New York State Police for three years.

Trooper Chernewsky has been with the New York State Police for over one year.

Both are assigned to Troop K.

On July 15, 2021, at approximately 10:30 am, State Police were called to a home on State Route 22 in the town of New Lebanon for a report of a suicidal person.

A preliminary investigation revealed during the Troopers’ interaction with the subject, the individual pointed a long gun at State Police members.

A member of the state police fired from a division issued shotgun and the subject was shot in the abdomen.

Troopers rendered immediate medical attention and the victim was taken to Albany Medical Center.

No State Police members were injured.

The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released when it is available.
