On July 14, 2021, the New York State Police in Catskill and the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office arrested 18-year-old Robert A. Bentley of Middletown, NY in relation to shootings in the village of Catskill and town of Stockport.  On the morning of July 5, 2021, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office responded to shots fired into a residence in Stottville.  On July 6, 2021, at approximately 4:00 p.m., the Catskill Police Department responded to a call for shots fired into an occupied residence on New Street.  A joint investigation by the NYSP, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, and the Catskill Police Department led to the arrest of Bentley.  In Greene County, Bentley was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon second degree, a class C felony, and one count of Reckless Endangerment first degree, a class D felony.  In Columbia County Bentley was charged with one count of Reckless Endangerment first degree and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon third degree, both class D felonies.  Bentley was arraigned in the Town of Coxsackie Court and remanded into the custody of the Greene County Sheriff in lieu of $25,000 cash bail, $50,000 bond, or $200,000 partially secured bond.  A sixteen-year-old male was also charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the second degree and one count of Reckless Endangerment in the first degree in connection with the Catskill shooting.
