Transportation Council launches comment period for draft of long-range transportation plan: Moving Dutchess Forward

Poughkeepsie – The Dutchess County Transportation Council (DCTC) announces the start of its public comment period for its new countywide plan: Moving Dutchess Forward – a strategic look at improving transportation in Dutchess County over the next 25 years.

Moving Dutchess Forward, the DCTC’s seventh long-range plan, establishes a vision for the County’s future transportation system to be safer, more reliable, resilient, and equitable. The plan is centered around four strategic goals (Learn, Assess, Advocate, and Invest) and looks at the various ways people move about the county — from driving, walking, and bicycling, to riding transit and moving freight. It evaluates trends, assesses transportation barriers, advocates for best practices, and recommends transformative investments to create a safer, more reliable system for all residents and visitors, regardless of ability, background, or form of travel.

Moving Dutchess Forward breaks new ground with its focus on improving equity and removing barriers to access. Designed as a digital product, the plan includes interactive maps and visuals to help readers understand the transportation issues facing the county. The DCTC encourages the public to visit the plan’s website at https://movingdutchessforward.com to explore the draft plan. Comments on the plan and accompanying air quality conformity statement will be accepted through July 16, 2021, and can be sent by mail, email, or phone to:
