Jamie Cheney Announces Bid for 41st State Senate District

(Rhinebeck,NY) – Today, Hudson Valley resident, small business owner and farmer, Jamie Cheney announced her campaign for the 41st State Senate District. Jamie and her husband run Falcon’s Fields, a 60-head beef farm in Rhinebeck. Before founding Falcon’s Fields, Jamie founded Prokanga, a recruiting firm and certified B Corporation, focused on creating flexible roles for working parents. She continues to run both businesses.

“As we’ve watched our community struggle throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, it is clear that Upstate needs leadership and investment to recover and continue building our economy. As a small business owner, farmer, and mother to young children, I understand firsthand the hurdles so many families in our community faced this past year as they navigated the uncertainties of the pandemic, and dealt with simultaneously working remotely and learning from home,” said Jamie Cheney, Candidate for the 41st State Senate District. “The residents of our district need a leader who will push for long term investments for recovery in our district, and continue to make the Hudson Valley a great place to live and work.”

Jamie is the daughter of a veteran and comes from a family with a history of stepping up and

answering the call to public service when their country or community needs it. We are at a

similar crossroads for our district: with jobs leaving the region, real estate costs increasing, and the continued impacts of long term recovery due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our community is calling for action.

“Many of the critical issues I have worked hard on for nearly a decade in Albany — such as broadband, agriculture, and mental health — have been made even more acute by the COVID-19 pandemic. Having an effective, dynamic partner in the State Senate to help rebuild a stronger Hudson Valley post-pandemic is essential. I look forward to working with Jamie Cheney to deliver real results for our shared constituents” said Assemblymember Didi Barrett.

“Jamie Cheney knows firsthand the value farming brings to our region and has committed herself to improving the lives of Hudson Valley families. As an owner/operator of a family farm, she’s been a passionate advocate for expanding 4-H programs to raise more resilient kids and pushed to ensure the region’s agricultural heritage remains a robust part of future economic growth,” commented Michael Dupree, Vice Chair of the Dutchess County Democrats. “We need a State Senator who has experience in creating a range of good-paying private sector jobs so everyone benefits, and that person is Jamie Cheney.”

Jamie and her husband fell in love with the Hudson Valley when they visited as young adults and knew it was the area where they ultimately wanted to raise their family. They were married in Amenia in 2009 and have continued to build their family and lives in Dutchess County since.

Jamie received her undergraduate degree from Yale, and her MBA from Harvard Business School. She serves on the Leadership Council of the National Small Business Association, and is active in the development of youth agriculture in New

York state.
