Sharon, CT – Josephine Ann Simoncelli, 80, a longtime resident of Sharon, CT, formerly of Amenia, NY died on Monday, April 20, 2015 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington, CT with her loving family at her side. Josie owned and operated the Black Eagle Restaurant in Amenia, NY and later worked at the Brookside Restaurant in Amenia, NY. She also worked at the Country Corner Restaurant in Sharon, CT. Born on July 8, 1934 in Sharon, CT, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Margaret (Mulchay) Edgeworth. In 1963, she married Robert Simoncelli, Sr. who predeceased her on December 25, 2011. Josie was a parishioner of St. Bernard’s Church in Sharon, CT where she served as the Hospitality Director and housekeeper.

She is survived by two daughters, JoAnn Hamilton and her husband, Robert, of Millerton, NY and Jody Simoncelli of Pittsfield, MA and a son, Robert Simoncelli, Jr. and his wife, Melissa, of Verbank, NY. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Michael Hamilton, Carrie Russo and her husband, Nick, Tina Nevone and Shelley Simoncelli; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Josie was predeceased by five brothers, Henry, Albert, David, Patrick and Thomas Edgeworth and four sisters, Mary Yeoman, Margaret Bates, Shirley Dennis and Bridget Waldron.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 24, 2015 at St. Bernard’s Church, 52 New Street, Sharon, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at St. Bernard’s Church with Rev. Francis R. Fador officiating. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, in Amenia, NY. Memorial contribution may be made to St. Bernard’s Church, 52 New Street, Sharon, CT 06069.
