Obituary, Arietta M. Carroll

Arietta M. Carroll, 100, a six-year resident of Port Orange, FL formerly a longtime resident of Amenia, NY, passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Halifax Medical Center in Port Orange, FL. Mrs. Carroll was a therapy aide at the Wassaic Developmental Center retiring in 1981.

Born on September 24, 1920 in Fairfield, CT, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Louisa (Wing) Pendergast. On October 6, 1940 in Amenia, NY, she married Sylvester J. Carroll who predeceased her on June 28, 1976.

Mrs. Carroll was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church in Amenia, NY. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters and the Altar Rosary Society. Mrs. Carroll was also a volunteer at The Rose Thrift Shop in Amenia.

Mrs. Carroll is survived by her a son, Jeremiah Carroll, Sr. and his wife, Sally, of Amenia, NY and two daughters, Joan Sinn of Piney Flats, TN and Linda Roberts and her husband, David, of Port Orange, FL. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Mark and Anthony Losito, Stephanie Carroll, Jeremiah T. Carroll, Jr, David Roberts, Jr., Craig Sinn and Elaina Heredia; thirteen great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Carroll is predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Curtis; three brothers, Thomas, Chester and Peter Pendergast and a granddaughter, Roxsanna Pence.

Calling hours will be held from 6 -8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Immaculate Conception Church, 4 Lavelle Road, Amenia, NY with Rev. R. Kent Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Amenia.
