Pawling Library Centennial Honorees

Pawling Library Centennial Honorees

By Susan Stone

The Pawling Library is proud to honor those who have contributed to its success since it was established in May of 1921. Each month, throughout its centennial year, the library will pay tribute to those individuals who have made its mission possible.

The May, 2021 honorees are Fayne and Ross Daniels. Through Fayne’s service on the board in the 1980s she proved adept at fundraising, securing support from the United Way, as well as leading the effort, along with George Coulter, of raising $50,000 for endowment funds. Thanks to this hard work, all expectations were exceeded.

With his keen interest in historical preservation, Ross helped facilitate the acquisition of a broad collection of past issues of the Pawling Chronicle, opening the window into conserving Pawling’s history. Much of this collection is now in the possession of the library or has been placed on microfiche and is accessible through the New York State Library, which can make them available for viewing at any approved library that has an appropriate reader.

From board leadership to fundraising and countless hours of volunteering, Fayne and Ross Daniels have been enduring and generous supporters, as well as stalwart champions and tireless advocates for the Pawling Library. The Trustees of the library are delighted to recognize their contributions as this anniversary milestone is celebrated, and are grateful for their many years of service and support.

A Power Point presentation honoring the Daniels’ will be available in the library throughout the month of May. The public is invited to view this, along with a banner display of the library’s early history.

Additional information about the library’s centennial will be available in May on the centennial web site at: pawlinglibrarycentennial.com.
