Obituary, Angelo Mauriello

It is with tremendous sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the unexpected and sudden passing of Angelo Mauriello of Carmel, NY, age 70, on April 19, 2021.
Born in Prata P.U., Avellino, Italy on March 15, 1951 and was one of nine children born to the late Nicola and Maria (Freda) Mauriello. At the age of three, he and his family immigrated to France and in 1971 he arrived in New York. Angelo married the love of his life, Teresa Izzo, in the Bronx at Mt. Carmel Church in 1979. In 1994, they relocated from the Bronx to Carmel to raise their family. Together, they were blessed with three wonderful children and three adoring grandchildren.
Angelo was a bricklayer foreman for Del Savio Construction in the Bronx, and a 50-year member of the BAC/Bricklayer Union Local #1 NY.  He was extremely proud of the countless skyscrapers that he helped to construct to shape the NYC skyline. As a former professional soccer player in France, he remained an enthusiastic soccer fan; his favorites being the Italian and French leagues. He was trilingual in English, Italian and French. Angelo was also an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener.
In addition to his wife, Teresa of Carmel, NY, he is survived by two sons, Nicolas (Georgette) of Brewster and Michelangelo of FL; a daughter, Maria (Nicola) Crudele of Carmel; three brothers, Charlie (Marianna) of Mahopac, Antonio (Brigette) of France, and Giacomo, also of France; two sisters, Rosanne (Tony) Johnson of FL and Frances (Andrew) Mattei of FL; three grandchildren, Veronica & Natalia Mauriello and Nicola Crudele; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by three sisters, Marianina Carlini, Rosalba Mauriello, and Angelina Mauriello.
A Memorial Mass to celebrate and honor Angelo’s life will be held on Monday, April 26, 2021 at 10 AM at St. Joseph’s Church, 95 Plum Brook Road, Somers, NY; masks are required and social distancing observed.
