Activity of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Enforcement Unit

Sheriff Robert L. Langley, Jr. reports the activity of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Enforcement Unit and the Street Crimes Unit for the month of March 2021.

In March the SCU made a total of four arrests.  Two people were stopped in the Town of Southeast in a motor vehicle which had been reported stolen.  The driver was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree; while the passenger was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree.   In a separate incident the SCU arrested another male in the Town of Southeast and charged him with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree.   In the Town of Carmel the SCU arrested a male for Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree.

Working jointly with the Town of Carmel Police Department the NEU arrested:

A male in possession of a quantity of heroin with the intent to sell it; he was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree, and Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree. 

A male after an investigation into the sale of cocaine.  He was charged with multiple counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree.

A female after an investigation into the sale of cocaine around the Mahopac area.  She was charged with Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree.

The NEU executed a search in the Town of Patterson after complaints were received from the community about drugs being sold from a residence.  Two males were arrested and charged with of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree in connection with the sale of fentanyl. 


The NEU  charged a male with multiple counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree as a result of an investigation into sales of cocaine in the Town of Patterson.
