Obituary, Joyce M. Ashline

Joyce M. Ashline, aka “Grandma Badger” or “Grandma Joyce” passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2021, at Danbury Hospital in Danbury, CT, at the age of 78.
A resident of Wingdale, NY, she was born on April 19, 1942 in Poughkeepsie, NY, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Joyce Fiero.  She married David P. Ashline on March 24, 1970, who survives at home.
Mrs. Ashline was a Division for Youth Aide for many years until her retirement in 1996. Prior to that, she worked for Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center as a Therapy Aide.  She was a loving, doting mother and grandmother who was always thinking of others before herself.  She was an avid bowler and bowled in many leagues and tournaments throughout the years.  She loved to play bingo, and if there was a hall close by, you can be sure she’d be there with her chips, dabbers and good luck charms!  Going to the casinos and playing cards were among her favorite things to do too.  She also enjoyed going to tag sales and always shopped till she dropped, being well-known as the “shopping queen” who more than likely gave away her “prized” possessions.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Ashline is survived by her four daughters, Shirley Mann (Jim), of Wingdale, NY, Linda DeVries (William) of Rock Hill, NY, Dawn Marawan of Dover Plains, NY, and Tina Ashline (Mara) of Wingdale, NY.  She is also survived by six beloved grandchildren, Christina Sartori, Cassandra Mann, Sarah Hildebrandt, Brian DeVries, Katie Ortega, and Azzet Marawan; three great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, a brother, Clyde Nichols, and many cherished friends.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Robert Fiero and a sister, Joan C. Paul.  She is also predeceased by her very special dogs, Socrates, Speedy, Daisy and Black Jack.
There will be no services at this time.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Horn and Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling, NY.
