Rehabilitation Work on Harlem Valley Rail Trail to Begin This Week

Poughkeepsie…The Dutchess County Department of Public Works (DPW) Highway Division will begin rehabilitation work this week on the Harlem Valley Rail Trail (HVRT). Existing surface pavement will be repaired along the trail to maintain an enjoyable and safe experience for all residents and visitors. The HVRT will remain open while work is underway, however trail users are advised to adhere to posted precautionary signs which may limit access to certain locations along the trail.

Weather permitting, repair work will begin on Thursday, April 23rd and will last approximately two weeks. HVRT maintenance will start near Sheffield Road in the Town of Amenia and will continue south to the Allen Sand & Gravel bank entrance, located approximately ¾ of a mile north of the Wassaic Train Station.

Signs will be posted along the HVRT alerting visitors of the rehabilitation work.
