Obituary

Murvin Elmer Tompkins, 80, a longtime resident of Wingdale, NY, passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Geer Village Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in North Canaan, CT. Born on December 27, 1940 in Poughkeepsie, NY, he was the son of the late Albert L. Tompkins, Sr. and Pearl (Grey) Tompkins. Mr. Tompkins was a cook at the Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center in Wingdale, NY for 30 years.

He is survived by his daughter, Melissa Sizemora of Pennsylvania; two brothers, William Tompkins of Amenia and Kevin Tompkins of Lagrange and one sister, Sylvia Rhodes of WA. He is also survived by two grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Tompkins is predeceased by two brothers, James Tompkins and Albert Tompkins, Jr. and four sisters, Mary Finley, Anna Mae Heck, Dorothy Jenkins and Karen Johnson.

Calling hours will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. on Friday, March 26, 2021 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Dover Plains. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
