Southeast, New York – February 19, 2021, the New York State Police from the Brewster barracks would like to remind members of the community to secure their vehicles properly.

The State Police have seen an increase of larcenies from vehicles over the past year and have recently investigated larcenies from vehicles left unattended at gas station pumps.  The pictured black Infinity with stolen CT license plates AU31375, was involved in two larcenies in early January 2021.  The victims left their vehicles momentarily unattended while with valuables inside.  Upon returning to their vehicles they discovered their wallets and smart devices were stolen.

Please always lock your vehicle, even in your own driveway.  Close all windows including sunroofs.  Park in well-lit areas.  Never leave your vehicle unattended while it is running.  Never leave keys, valuables, or personal identification in a vehicle even for short periods on time.

If you see suspicious or criminal activity, please contact the New York State Police at (845) 677-7300.
