Sheriff Robert L. Langley, Jr. Reports the Arrest of a

32-year-old Poughkeepsie Man on Felony DWI Charges

On February 10, 2021, at approximately 8:30 a.m., Deputy Kevin Radovich was on patrol on Route 9, in the area of Watergrass Lane in the Town of Philipstown when he observed a Subaru Outback stopped in the southbound lane with its hazards on. Deputy Radovich pulled behind the vehicle and made contact with the driver, 32-year-old Stuart W. Young, of Poughkeepsie.

A subsequent investigation revealed that, Mr. Young was allegedly intoxicated and was driving with a revoked driver’s license. Mr. Young’s driver’s license had been revoked on or about July 11, 2018 for driving while having a “Blood Alcohol Content” (BAC) in excess of .08. Additionally, the investigation revealed that there was an active restriction on Young’s license that mandated that any vehicle he operated have an ignition interlock device installed. There was no such device installed in the Outback. Mr. Young was arrested on the scene and charged with 1 Felony Count of Driving While Intoxicated for having a previous conviction for DWI within the past ten years, 1 Felony Count of Driving While Intoxicated for having a previous conviction for DWI within the past ten years and having a BAC in excess of .08, 1 Felony Count of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the 1st Degree, and 1 Misdemeanor Count of Circumventing an Ignition Interlock Device. He was also charged with driving without a license. He was processed and released without incident for a future date in the Town of Philipstown Justice Court.
