Dominique Altomari receives a Women for BW Giving Circle Award at Baldwin Wallace University

BEREA, OH (11/17/2020)– Dominique Altomari of Poughquag (12570) was one of four students who received a Women for BW Giving Circle Award during the fall 2020 semester. The Giving Circle provides funding for Faculty & Staff Special Project Awards up to $5,000 and Student Academic Enrichment Awards up to $2,000, with nearly $24,000 available in 2020.

Altomari, a graduate of Arlington Senior High School majoring in sustainability and environmental science, received a Student Academic Enrichment Award of $2,000 to purchase hydroponic gardening equipment and supplies. As a member of BW’s Students Tending Natural Gardens Club, her goal is to produce fresh produce for BW’s Dining Services to use for student life, but to also be able to supply students experiencing food insecurity with fresh, healthy food.

Recipients of Student Academic Enrichment Awards are selected from proposals by female BW students. Proposals must involve an experiential learning opportunity, studying abroad, conducting research that promotes active collaborations, presenting at or attending conferences, an internship or a service-learning experience that benefits Baldwin Wallace or the greater community.

Women for BW is a support organization of Baldwin Wallace University that strengthens the course of women’s philanthropy through the power of programming, engagement and collective giving.

Baldwin Wallace University, founded in 1845, was one of the first colleges to admit students without regard to race or gender. Located in Berea, 12 miles from downtown Cleveland, BW offers students the cultural, educational and business advantages of a major metropolitan area.
