Obituary, Joseph Kain

Joseph L. Kain, Sr., 93, a longtime resident of Amenia, NY, passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021 at Geer Village Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in North Canaan, CT. Mr. Kain was a dairy farmer who owned and operated JLK and Sons Farm in Amenia, NY.

Born on December 13, 1927 in Hopewell Junction, NY, he was the son of the late Richard and Mae (McEnroe) Kain. On April 18, 1949 in Sharon, CT, he married Lois Middlebrook who predeceased him in 2005.

Mr. Kain was a member of the Connecticut Milk Producers Association (CMPA) and the Farm Credit Association. He was also a member of 4-H and the Future Farmers of America Organization (FFA). Mr. Kain was an avid baseball player and played on the Amenia Monarchs. He was also an avid golfer. He was a member of the Men’s League at Hotchkiss School, Wyantenuck Country Club in Great Barrington, MA and Isla Del Sol Yacht & Country Club in St, Petersburg, FL.

Mr. Kain is survived by four sons, Jeffrey Kain and his wife, Sharon, of Myrtle Beach, SC, Jay B. Kain and his wife, Deborah, of Great Barrington, MA, Jerard Kain and his wife, Ann, of Amenia and Christopher Kain and his wife, Jennifer, of Lowville, NY. He is also survived by two daughters, Lorrie Kain of New York, NY and Lisa Ducillo and her husband, Joseph, of Summerfield, FL; twenty-three grandchildren and thirty-seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Kain was predeceased by a son, Joseph L. Kain, Jr; a daughter, Allison Kain and two brothers, Richard and William Kain.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Immaculate Conception Church, 4 Lavelle Road, Amenia, NY with Rev. R. Kent Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Amenia. Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Church, 4 Lavelle Road, Amenia, NY 12501.
