Obituary, James J. Cingari

James J. Cingari, 88, a longtime resident of Dover Plains, NY, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Sharon Hospital in Sharon, CT with his daughters by his side. Mr. Cingari was a union carpenter for Empire State Carpenters in Hopewell Junction, NY.

Born on February 11, 1932 in Peekskill, NY, he was the son of the late James and Carmella (Giordano) Cingari. Mr. Cingari proudly served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. On February 11, 1956 in Dover Plains, NY he married Dorothy Ann Senk who predeceased him on November 5, 2010.

Mr. Cingari was a former Post Commander at the American Legion Post #1949 in Wingdale, NY. He was an avid golfer and member of the Harlem Valley Gold Club. He was also a former member of the Chestnut Ridge Rod and Gun Club. Mr. Cingari was a lifetime fan of the New York Yankees and New York Giants.

He is survived by his loving daughters, Susan Langton and her companion, Chuck Orton, of Dover Plains, NY, Laura Garnett of Dover Plains, NY and Rhonda Woodard of Lake Wylie, SC. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Robert Langton, Aimee Langton-Filosidi, Christopher and Joseph Garnett, Bryan Cingari and Scott Woodard and three great-grandchildren, Logan and Reagan Palladino and Mazlyn Langton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 62 Mill Street, Dover Plains, NY. Burial will follow at St. Charles Cemetery in Dover Plains. Memorial contributions may be made to the American legion Post #1949, P.O. Box 654, Wingdale, NY 12594 or St. John the Evangelist-St. Charles Borromeo Parish, 39 East Main St., Pawling, NY 12564.
