Obituary, Caroline M. Conway

Caroline M. Conway, 77, a long-time resident of Holmes, NY, passed away on Friday, December 18, 2020 at the Watermark at East Hill in Southbury, CT.

She was born in the Bronx on January 3, 1943, the daughter of the late Fredrick and Mary Kostner. She married Thomas P. Conway on October 13, 1974, who predeceased her on May 1 2017.

She graduated from Walton High School and went on to work at Con Edison, where she met her future sister-in-law who introduced her to her husband, Tommy. She stayed home while her children were young, and later worked at Union Carbide and The Daniels Agency of NY, Inc.

Her travels included trips to Europe, skiing in the French Alps, and an infamous story of a flooded tent during a camping adventure. She enjoyed all kinds of sports, including skiing, softball, and tennis. She loved being involved in the community and was a Girl Scout troop leader for many years. An avid ballet lover, she and her friend Agnes had season tickets to the NY ballet every spring. She also enjoyed watching birds in her back yard, Yankee games, aqua aerobics, singing, and painting, and was an active member of the Hudson Valley Tole and Decorative Painters. She was a faithful Catholic and was even in the convent for a short time. She loved liturgical music and enjoyed attending mass services at several different parishes.

She is survived by her three children Brian Conway of Poughkeepsie, NY, Meaghan Conway of Santa Fe, NM, and Lauren Weber and her husband Wendel Weber of Sherman, CT, and her two brothers, Fred Kostner and his wife Mary Kostner of Hemet, CA, and Charles Kostner and his wife Carol Kostner of Yonkers, NY. She was a kind, thoughtful, generous, supportive, loving soul, and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She would light up a room with her smile and the twinkle in her eye. Everyone knew her as a happy lady and enjoyed her laughter.

Due to Covid, there are currently no planned services at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of the Horn and Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Pawling Resource Center (https://www.pawlingresourcecenter.org/).
