Obituary, Josephine Mary Russell

Josephine Mary Russell, a resident of Patterson, NY for 52 years, passed away at her home Saturday, November 21, 2020 at the age of 86.

 

Born in the Bronx on October 26, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Bridget (Farrelly) Clarke.  On October 17, 1952 she married Robert Russell in the Bronx; he predeceased her on May 19, 1985.

 

Retired from Verizon in Tarrytown, Josephine loved gardening and politics.

 

Josephine is survived by her two sons, Christopher Russell of Tarrytown, NY and Robert Russell and wife Marlee, of Pawling; her daughter Brigit Mann and husband Alfred of Patterson; nine grandchildren, Shawna Russell, Danny Russell, Jennifer Melrose, Katie Beckley, Bobby Russell, and Alfred, Rory, Kevin, and Willie Mann; fourteen great-grandchildren, Jade & Scarlett Wilkinson, Laila Russell, Riley & Avery Melrose, Aidan, Connor, & Caroline Beckley, Kylie, Kaitlyn,  & Ryan Russell, Everett & Bode Mann, and Lucas Mann; two sisters, Mary Kelly of East Northport, NY and Bernadette Tombline and husband Curtis of Brewster; and many nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to her husband and parents, she is predeceased by her brothers, Andrew and Bernard Clarke, her sister Anna Curtin, and her god-son Myles Tombline.

 

Family and friends may pay their respects at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling Tuesday, November 24th from 3-7 PM; masks required and “social distancing” observed.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, November 25th at 11 AM at St. John’s Church, Pawling; masks required and “social distancing” observed.  Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Pawling, NY.
