Updated: Barricaded subject in Wappinger

Update: On November 14, 2020, the New York State Police arrested Jerry Ford, age 44, of Wappinger, for Menacing in the 2nd degree, a class A misdemeanor.

At approximately 9:00 a.m., the Town of Fishkill Police Department responded to a residence on Cooper Road for a welfare check request.  Jerry Ford was interviewed during the course of the investigation outside of his residence.  Ford became increasingly uncooperative, entered his house, and retrieved what appeared to be a firearm.  He then aimed the black rifle style weapon at the officers before reentering his home.

The State Police, Village of Fishkill P.D., and the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office responded and, Ford was taken into custody without further incident shortly thereafter.  The weapon was found to be a rifle style BB air gun.

Jerry Ford was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the town of Wappinger Court on November 25, 2020, at 5:30 p.m.

Wappinger,  New York – November 14, 2020, the State Police in Wappinger aided by the Town of Fishkill Police Department,  Village of Fishkill Police Department,  and the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office responded to Cooper Road in the town of Wappinger for a barricaded subject.

The suspect was taken into custody without further incident shortly after Police arrival. No persons were injured, and there is no threat to the public as a result of this incident.

This investigation is ongoing, and updates will be provided as they become available.
