Wappinger man arrested for stabbing victim with scissors

Wappinger, New York – On October 25, 2020, the New York State Police from the Wappinger barracks arrested Michael J. Valentin, age 31, of Wappinger, for Assault in the 2nd degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd degree, and Strangulation in the 2nd degree, all class D felonies.

On October 25, 2020, at approximately 3:10 a.m., Troopers responded to Scarborough Lane in the town of Wappinger for a disturbance.  Investigation found Michael Valentin engaged in a verbal dispute with the victim who attempted to walk away from the argument.  Valentin then used a pair of scissors to stab the victim multiple times before choking him to the point of unconsciousness.  Valentin also had a previous conviction for criminal possession of a weapon.  The victim was transported by EMStar to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Valentin was arraigned before the town of Wappinger Court, and released on $5,000 secure bond to return before the court on November 5, 2020, at 5:30 p.m.
