Wappinger, New York – On October 20, 2020, the New York State Police from the Wappinger barracks began investigating a serious motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian in the town of Wappinger.

At approximately 7:45 p.m., Troopers were dispatched to New Hamburg Road by Dutchess County 911 for a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle.  The victim, Terrance J. Hector, age 37, of Wappinger, was located with serious injuries and transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital by EMStar.

Initial investigation reveals a 2005 Hyundai Elantra was headed eastbound on New Hamburg Road in the area of a curve without streetlamps.  Terrance Hector is believed to have been walking westbound in the eastbound lane wearing dark clothing and was subsequently struck.

This investigation remains ongoing.  The Troop K Collision Reconstruction Unit was also on scene investigating.
