Somers, New York – On September 8, 2020, the New York State Police investigated a motor vehicle crash on State Route 202 near the Amawalk Reservoir in the town of Somers.
Troopers were dispatched at approximately 10:50 a.m. for a car over the guiderail on Route 202.  Upon arrival to the scene the vehicle was located near the water with four occupants.  One male passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the Westchester Medical Center by EMS.  The remaining three occupants including one small child were uninjured.  It is believed the operator swerved to avoid an object in the roadway, struck the guiderail, and the vehicle jumped the rail before coming to rest in the wooded area adjacent to the water.
The vehicle struck a tree and came to rest near the water.  The vehicle did not enter the reservoir.  The New York State Department of Environmental Protection were on scene due to fluids from the vehicle leaking into the reservoir.
