Obituary, Thelma V. Brunow

Thelma V. Brunow, a long-time resident of Wassaic, NY passed away at her home Friday, June 12, 2020 at the age of 96.

 

Formerly of Pawling, she was born on May 20, 1924 in Livingston, NY to Thruman and Mildred L. (Best) Perrine.  She married the late Jules Brunow and they raised their family in the Pawling/Wassaic area.  Jules passed away on January 7, 1968.

 

Thelma was an avid philatelist (stamp collector), a passion she inherited from her mother, and collected stamps for most of her life.  She loved selling Girl Scout cookies, and would sell trunk-loads full of them; you could find her many week-ends sitting outside various local businesses with her table set up, selling cookies, even when her daughters weren’t scouts.  She loved selling raffle tickets and would sell hundreds of them for various organizations, such as the fire department and the Red Cross; she also loved fishing and doing crossword puzzles.

 

Thelma is survived by four sons, Wayne Brunow of McLaughlin, NV, Garvin Brunow and wife, Debbie, of Pawling, Dennis Brunow and wife, Marcia, of Dover, and Willis Hanssen and wife, Jennifer, of Wingdale; two daughters, Mildred Bailey and husband, Mark, of Holmes and Donna Brown and husband, Gregory, of Wassaic; 23 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

 

In addition to her husband, she is predeceased by her son Kevin, who passed away on January 5, 2015, and three grandsons, Scott, Eddie, and Dennis III.

 

Due to the Corona Virus, there are no services at this time.  Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
