LaGrange man charged in assault of baby

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, conjunction with the Child Advocacy Center (CAC), reports the arrest of Vasileios Papaemmanouil (age 23 of LaGrange) in connection with a week-long investigation into the injuring of a 1-month old baby. The investigation is being conducted by the Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau along with Investigators from the CAC.

Mr. Papaemmanouil was arrested on 5/22/20 and has been accused of causing serious injuries to the child while the baby was in his care on 5/14/20. The child suffered head, eye, and rib injuries and as of this writing continues to be hospitalized at Westchester Medical Center.

At this time Mr. Papaemmanouil has been charged with Reckless Assault of a Child (Felony) and Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Misd). After being processed he was arraigned before Dutchess County Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.

The investigation is continuing by Sheriff’s Office Detectives and CAC Investigators, and more information may be released as it becomes available. As with any criminal case the charges described above are merely accusations, and Mr. Papaemmanouil is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
