Southeast, New York – On May 14, 2020, the New York State Police from the Brewster barracks arrested Peter A. Wenzel, age 39, of Poughkeepsie, for two Counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree, a class B felony, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th degree, a class D felony, Bail Jumping in the 2nd degree, a class E felony, Criminal Impersonation in the 2nd degree, a class A misdemeanor, and False Personation, a class B misdemeanor, and Joseph C. Wayman, age 33, of Saugerties, NY, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, both class A misdemeanors.

On May 14. 2020, at approximately 9:15 p.m., Troopers conducted a vehicle and traffic stop on a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu for a traffic law violation on Interstate 84 in the town of Southeast.  Investigation determined the operator, Joseph C. Wayman III, possessed a small amount of heroin with a child in the vehicle.

Further investigation found the passenger, Peter A. Wenzel, possessed approximately 1.76 grams of cocaine, 1.35 grams of crack-cocaine, and 172 grams of heroin.  Initially Wenzel provided false information regarding his identity in order to avoid association with an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

Peter Wenzel was arraigned before the Putnam County Court, and released on his own recognizance.  Wenzel is next scheduled to appear before the town of Southeast Court on June 30, 2020, at 2:00 p.m.

Joseph Wayman was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the town of Southeast Court on June 30, 2020, at 6:00 p.m.
