Philmont, New York – On May 13, 2020, the New York State Police and the Philmont Police Department responded to Main Street in the village of Philmont for a residential structure fire.

At approximately 7:10 p.m. the State Police patrolled to Main Street in the village of Philmont to assist Philmont Fire Company.  Investigation found there were three residents in the building at the time of the fire.  All three were able to exit the building safely.  One resident, Jacquline Strobino, aged 56 years, reentered the building for unknown reasons.  She was later found deceased by responding fire fighters.  Strobino was pronounced on scene by the Columbia County Coroner Office.

Preliminary investigation suggests the cause of the fire was accidental in nature.  New York State Fire Investigators and the Columbia County Cause and Origin Team were on scene.

Philmont Fire Company was assisted by Livingston Fire, Greenport Fire, Greenport Rescue, Churchtown Fire, Claverack Fire, Chatham Fire and Hudson Fire Departments.
